Misty Copeland joined the ballet troupe of American Ballet Theatre in 2001, but fractured vertebrae forced her to stop dancing for a year. At puberty, her body moves away from the canons of classical dance, which attracts criticism. When advised to lose weight, she suffers from eating disorders. As a result, Copeland remained more athletic and athletic than most ballet dancers. In August 2007, Copeland became the first African-American dancer of our time after Anne Benna Sims and Nora Kimball in the 1980s.
In 2015, the ballerina was included in the list of “The Most Influential People” by Time magazine. She is also a producer and screenwriter. In 2017, a documentary and biographical film entitled “A Balerina’s Tale” was released, which describes Copeland’s everyday life.
