The effect is different from normal sharpening effects. It's basically designed to try to reverse engineer what happens to an image with bokeh blur, can also be used for motion blur. I Measured how many pixels the average blur was in the image, and applied smart sharpen, increasing the strength and applying slight noise reduction as the sharpening effect amplified the noise a lot. Obviously far from perfect but does resolve some details better.
