You all (in particular Bumkaido and Batman1985) ever seen the movie Long Gone? It's the best baseball movie nobody has seen or talks about. In my Top5 baseball movies all time but unknown as it was an HBO made movie from like 1986/87 not available streaming anywhere, never digitized.

William Petersen is Cecil "Stud" Cantrell, the over the hill hard drinking star of a 1950s Florida minor league baseball team, the "Tampico Stoogies." Dixie Lee Box is his one night stand turned relationship played by Virginia. She's never fully nude, but she is awesome in this and there's an amazing ass shot that got 12 year old Cokey all hot and bothered in 1987.

Durmont Mulroney is a new signing out of high school. The team owners (nicknamed Asshole and Asshole Junior) are Henry Gibson and IN A SPEAKING ROLE (!!) Teller from. Penn and Teller.

It's got some historical context (try signing a black player to a team in 1950's Florida), it's funny, dramatic, has a great montage, and Petersen has a couple fantastic monologues.

It IS on YouTube. Looks like it was recorded on VHS. Not great quality, but still with the watch. I hope someday it gets digitized.

You all (in particular Bumkaido and Batman1985) ever seen the movie Long Gone? It's the best baseball movie nobody has seen or talks about. In my Top5 baseball movies all time but unknown as it was an HBO made movie from like 1986/87 not available streaming anywhere, never digitized.

I recall seeing this sometime in high school but yes, very hard to find - with so many boutique Blu ray labels now, be nice if somebody could get the rights so we can see Virginia in HD, HBO appears to be trying to ignore its pre-Sopranos output (i.e. the Real Sex series)

Great movie. It came out right before Bull Durham and that's when I saw it. The similarities between the two movies is why I think Bull Durham is overrated.

The way this is shot Virginia COULD have used a butt double - disappointed to hear some of her close-up (skinny dip at night) nudity in The Hot Spot likely double too
