Am I right in thinking that the copyright message creators put on their profile. It’s just for show? No way you can be tracked etc if you used Aloha for instance to download their stuff.

The notice mostly relates to uploading/sharing it, as you'd need to download it first. I think you ISP can provide details around downloads, but someone would need to place a request with the ISP, and to do that they'd need reasonable grounds of suspicion. I'm not sure how effective VPNs are against masking downloads.
