for once in my life, i agree with @BillCosbysLawyer it's a well known & reliable way of getting your name out there, by releasing your own nudes, porn tape, cheesecake shots..... back in the day it was easier to pose sexily for a lads mag; blaming the photographer for handing over shots they didn't want seen; or bunny mag; where it was considered artful. but now it's all social media 'gaffes', or the like.

Like you said, she just released a new single (AND a new music video) before this "leak" happened."Artists" (*cough* IG models who think they're talented) who don't actually have the talent to produce entire albums in a timely manner have to resort to drawing out the hype with dropping a Single once every 6 months.

Here is the timeline of events:

- Feb 15: Releases new single and music video
-March 8 - For no apparent reason, she mentions her 2015 leaked nudes:
You must be logged-in or registered for see medias
-April 4 - All media outlets have commented on her new song, there is no more marketing to be done. (views/streams probably starting to drop, or at best be stagnant)
-April 30 - These new, tame ass videos which show nothing "leak".

My guess is they will not comment on the situation for a while, and then as they start paying for album release coverage they'll make her bring it up and it will be a part of a bunch of the interviews and they'll push the women's rights/revenge porn angle for sympathy on social media.

That is very much a wild conspiracy theory, esp when your timeline has weeks apart and would really require a publicist who can't market on anything but leaked pics.

Well then maybe you should look at what was just posted on her Instagram story... New single dropping in 11 days. I work in this industry. I've never been on a client who's done this, but I can 100% confirm it happens and the details are worked out well in advance before the client is even famous depending on how the firm (recording company in this case) evaluates each given star's career projection and fame. But please, continue telling me I'm wrong from your couch.

Edit: To clarify, it doesn't always mean releasing nudes as leaks. A more common tactic is pre-negotiated romantic relationships (because those are the easiest to track in terms of analytics and marketing value), and then there's also a public breakdown/crazy story, fake friendships with another celeb, etc. With the rise of the MeToo movement however, I'm sure they've calculated this route as worthwhile due to the increase in coverage for women's rights topics surrounding the movement.

I don't really doubt that some celebrities leak their own nudes for publicity. I do doubt it's nearly as common as you're implying just due to the clear lack of nude leaks not associated with major known trader leaks.

The fake relationship stuff though...that's been a long standing industry tradition. I went to school with a minor celebrity who at one point was on the verge of maybe turning into something bigger and he fake dated a pretty established singer because his publicist thought it would get him more traction with the gossip rags than the actual much hotter but much less famous actress he was actually dating.

Now all of that said, I have suspected for a long time Miley Cyrus 100% leaks her own shit. Just seems too convenient how many of those leaks have coincided with publicity pushes in her career.

for anyone doubting it's her I had some spare time so I checked in the 1st video, you can clearly see her bedframe and I checked it does match. in the second video, the carrier ring is on the right hand because the video was taken on the front camera therefore everything is reversed. then the mole on her right cheek also matches and the last video the ring is also on the right-hand middle finger, and I had to google it and she sometimes wears her watch on her right hand. so it is her.
