Linda Denise Blair is an American film/television actress, model, and activist. Best known for her role as Regan McNeil in William Friedkin’s “The Exorcist.”
She was born on January 22, 1959, in St. Louis, Missouri. She had an older sister, Debbie, and an older brother, Jim. When Linda was 2 years old, her father took a job in New York, and the family moved to Westport, Connecticut, where her mother went to work as a real estate agent. At the age of 5, Linda began modeling, appearing in photo shoots for children’s sections in the catalogs of “Sears”, “J. C. Penney” and “Macy’s” and in more than 70 commercials of grape jam company “Welch’s.” At the age of six, she signed a contract with the New York Times to participate in its advertising and in the same period, began riding. Although Linda dreamed of becoming a veterinarian, her modeling career gradually turned into acting. In 1968, her acting debut took place, when she starred as a regular actress in the Soap Opera “Hidden Faces.”
Linda began her acting career with small cameo roles in films, and television series, her debut work in film was the role of Bardi in the movie “The Sporting Club” in 1971.
