Meet Sybil Danning, born Sybille Johanna Danninger on May 24, 1952, an Austrian actress and model. She got big in the â70s and â80s for poppinâ up in B movies.
Born in Wels, Austria, she grew up movinâ around military bases with her fam, travelinâ the globe. After her folks split, she worked as a dental hygienist back in Austria to keep things floatinâ. At 16, she bounced to Salzburg, hittinâ up cosmetology school. Workinâ as a cosmetician, she started rockinâ fashion shows and photo shoots. Her first movie was the German comedy Komm nur, mein liebstes Vögelein in â68, then she played Kriemhild in the spicy action flick The Long Swift Sword of Siegfried in â71. Kept landinâ small roles, leaninâ into that sex symbol rep.
In â78, she jetted to Hollywood to level up in American films. Her big break came in Roger Cormanâs sci-fi gem Battle Beyond the Stars in â80, cementinâ her as a B movie queen. She starred in a bunch of â80s flicks like Chained Heat, Hercules, Malibu Express, Howling II: Your Sister Is a Werewolf, and Reform School Girls. In â90, a stunt rehearsal accident sidelined her with a spinal disc herniation, puttinâ her actinâ gig on pause.
