I wondered about this. She said it was a body double so everyone reported on it as such.
But this was literally right as her career was starting out. Why would a studio ask for a nude scene, hire an unknown actress that wasn’t going to go nude then pay extra money for a body double? A no-namer that wouldn’t want to go nude wouldn’t have even been hired. I wonder if she actually went nude then told people that?
A way a write up told it: she was under contract to be nude and signed. But as a religious gal, was worried people she knew would see the boobs and spout their stuff about her not being an upright proper Christian, but a harlot blah blah. So the director made a compromise with her. Do the scene but say it was a body double to save her the gruff. “Body double” was apparently credited in the movie but is non existant. On IMDB or anywhere. As a side note: Has NO ONE saw those red carpet stills of her in that very see through treen dress with no bra? Compare her boobs with the “body double”s. If it is indeed a body double, then Jessica led the search for an identical torso herself.
@wawawee – you’re right about the timing, this movie was filmed before she exploded in Dark Angel, but wasn’t released until after. She could have been nude when they filmed it, but then used the “body double” dodge once she was popular.

The only female body doubles that work are Ruth Wilson’s in “The Affair” and Dominique Swain’s in “Lolita.” The latter was only a success because most of the scenes with the double had to be cut, the only time in US history that censorship has had a positive effect on a work of art. Swain’s hand double was shit and should have been cut too.
