Hi all,

I wanted to bring up something that’s been bothering me a bit.
Lately, I’ve noticed that some of my uploads — and those of others — are getting copied to other sites without any credit given to the original uploaders. Even worse, these sites often earn money from ads while using our uploads.

To help with this, I’m planning to start adding watermarks to my uploads.
For images, I’ll be using ACDSee (which can batch watermark images nicely). For videos, I’m still looking for a good solution — does anyone here have recommendations for simple video watermarking tools?

Before I move ahead, I’d like your input on how the watermark should look.

Thanks for your thoughts — and let’s keep our uploads credited properly!

It may not be the moment to revive 2002-style watermarks, since the advent of Flux Kontext has made it really trivial to remove even the most aggressive overlays (overlays probably in excess of what a poster would consider using). If you are going to go ahead anyway, I'd go for the smallest logo/sig possible, in the lower left corner - something too insignificant to be worth the trouble of erasing, one could hope.

For video, if you don't have After Effects or something similar, AVIDemux can add image-based logos, and I'm pretty sure that Shutter Encoder can too, on Windows and Mac. For sure, if you install FFMPEG, a 30-minute session with ChatGPT will get you a free drag-and-drop Python script that adds your logo/sig. I've made a lot of useful FFMPEG scripts lately but don't have one for this, as have no need of it.
