The Opera browser has a free VPN, you can enable it in the settings, it works very well.

Most free VPNs make money somehow, and that often means logging or monetising user data. Browser-extension VPNs are particularly risky as well.

If you want a free option, Proton’s a good one. Otherwise, a proper paid VPN is far safer than the random “free/unlimited” ones being mentioned.

Just make sure you understand the pros/cons of those free ones before using them.
