New UK law

X Hamster is warning about the new UK age law coming in July.

I’m not overly techy, so my question is will a VPN set to say, the US or Ireland circumvent this?

Reddit has already started asking for verification, Some only need a selfie to estimate your age on, Some sites are apparently asking for banking details or photo ID instead which isn't something I'd feel safe doing on a lot of websites.

I have heard that VPNs are supposedly getting around them though so might be worth seeing if that's the case.

Using a VPN gets around reddit's checks - and it'll probably get around almost all sites' checks as they will all want to do the bare minimum possible to be compliant.

I'd strongly suggest using a VPN rather than giving personal information to these 'verification' companies. It's probably only a matter of time before one of them is hacked or data is leaked.

What's the point of putting age verification on reddit? They remove anything worth seeing.
I got banned for posting a pic that wouldn't raise an eyebrow anywhere else.

I just encountered one on Loyalfans, and picked Austrailia as country of origin and it didn't ask me.
Asked me using UK and USA on VPN
