Debra Lynn Messing, born August 15, 1968, is an American actress who’s been all over TV. She’s best known for playin’ Grace Adler for eight years on the NBC sitcom Will & Grace.

After graduatin’ from NYU’s Tisch School of the Arts, she had quick stints on Fox’s Ned & Stacey from ’95 to ’97 and ABC’s sci-fi Prey in ’98. Her big break came with Will & Grace from ’98 to 2006, and she kept the momentum goin’ as Molly Kagan in The Starter Wife from ’07 to ’08. More recently, she played Julia Houston in the musical-drama Smash from ’12 to ’13 and Detective Laura Diamond in the comedy The Mysteries of Laura from ’14 to ’16, both on NBC.

On the big screen, she’s been in flicks like A Walk in the Clouds, The Mothman Prophecies, Hollywood Ending, Along Came Polly, The Wedding Date, Lucky You, The Women, and Nothing like the Holidays. She’s also lent her voice to animated movies like Garfield and Open Season.

Over her career, she’s racked up six Emmy nominations, nabbin’ one win, eight Screen Actors Guild Award nods with one win, and eight Golden Globe nominations.
