The former couple were married from 2009 to 2016 but reportedly split after Danielle wanted to have a child together while Gary felt his family was complete. He has four children whom he shares with first ex-wife Michelle Cockayne. However, Gary and Danielle have remained incredibly good friends since their divorce.

In a 2019 interview, Match of the Day host Gary, 62, spoke about his enduring affection for her, even describing her as his “best mate”. He said: “We still speak three times a day, we text all the time. When she comes to London she stays with me, and when I go to LA I see her.”

Danielle is now married to American lawyer Nate Greenwald, with whom she shares her daughter Romy, five. It is not known if Lineker is in a relationship but in 2020 he declared he was “singlely-singley-single-single”.
