Can you imagine any American even nearly as famous as Madonna going that far today? “Poor Things” is great and Emma Stone should be praised to the skies for her courageous rejection of feminist neo-Puritan misandry (even if Carey Mulligan and above all Cailee Spaeny gave superior performances last year), but the sex scenes in that film don’t have ANYTHING on what’s in “Body of Evidence” or any of the US erotic films of the ’80s and ’90s.
